I am sad to report that the weather did not cooperate for our final race of the season - the track is currently too wet and soft to race without enough chance to dry. We are therefore cancelling tonight's race :-(

We are seeking help to cover the track tonight at 7:30 PM. We have high likelihood of rain tonight and are currently short-staffed for repairs. The more hands we have to cover the track, the faster and easier it will be. So please join us if you can so that we can keep our track surface protected for races this week.

We are seeking volunteer help to prepare the track for both Wed Gate Practice and our state qualifer weekend. Volunteers have two opportunities to help out: Tuesday night starting at 6PM, and Wednesday night starting at 5PM. Water will be provided to ensure safe working and training during this week's heat.

Last week's combination training session/work evening was a great success with lots of participation in both BMX training and track maintenance. Please join us again to volunteer your help while your racers receive training!

Our track is coming along well, but it will not be race-ready by this Friday. Our first race is now post-poned until next Friday, May 27.

For the next three evenings (Wed-Fri) we will be smoothing the new surface and applying the last of the new clay with the help of a Bobcat. We need your help! Volunteers are needed to help rake the surface clean - the more the better. Join us after 5:30 PM Wed - Fri this week. If all goes well, we will hold a gate practice Friday to get the kids riding and help pack down the new surface.

I spoke too soon - Despite the wet weather this week, the track is now largely roughed out by the heavy equipment. We now need volunteers to help shape the track and apply the clay! The work weekend is shaping up as follows:

Friday (this) evening - Anytime! - come on down and lend a hand!
Saturday - Anytime after 8:30 AM
Sunday - Anytime after 8:30 AM

Dress warm, and bring boots that can take the mud. If you have spades or shovels - bring them just in case we are short.

Track Activities - Update

Despite the wet weather this week we have made some significant progress on planned track modifications. The heavy equipment will be working through this evening. Outlook for the the weekend looks good so far for our club work weekend.

Our primary need for volunteers will come when we need to spread the new clay on the track surface. I will know better this evening when volunteers will be most needed - current plan is Saturday (May 14) by 12 noon, and we will almost certainly need help all the way through Sunday. Watch this message board for frequent updates!

Do you have old trophies cluttering up your home? We can use them! Friday the Hodag BMX Club will help welcome Santa to town and be a part of the Christmas tree lighting ceramony down town and we HOPE YOU WILL JOIN US !!

We will meet at 4:30 on Brown Street by the Fun Factory. We are unit 10. The parade starts right at 5:00. Please wear your bike gear but don't bring bikes. We have a fabulous float for you to ride on. Wear holiday or santa hats if you can. We have a few extras if you need them.

We will be having a meeting on Friday, November 12th, starting at 7:00 p.m. at Pizza Haven. Currently, the Agenda and subjects for discussion/voting will include:

(1) NOMINATIONS for BMX Club officers will be taken; and depending on the number of people who show up and the number of nominations, a VOTE may take place either that night on Nov. 12th (if a small number of nominations are made - for example if only one or two people are nominated for positions), or at a later meeting (if a larger number of nominations are made for positions); a determination will be made that night as to whether a vote will be taken that night for officers or adjourned to a later date.

(2) PRESENTATION by the local Skate Park, Kids In Need and certain volunteers regarding the desire to combine the support and efforts of the three organizations (Skate Park Assoc., Kids In Need, and Hodag BMX), as well as the City of Rhinelander and possibly Oneida County, to co-sponsor and participate in a long-term project and goal of applying for certain grants and using that grant money to build a well-designed, concrete, local skate-park/BMX-trick-riding park adjacent to our local BMX track at West Park. A MOTION will be made to the effect that the Hodag BMX Club "join forces" with the local Skate Park Assoc. and Kids In Need (and the City of Rhinelander and possibly Oneida County) in an effort to progress such a goal.

(3) Any other new or old business. If anyone has new or old business matters that they would like to put on the agenda for this meeting, please either reply to this email, or contact Missy Lilligan or Heather Sturevant via email.

The actual meeting will start at 7:00 p.m. at Pizza Haven on Friday, Nov. 12th...of course, all are certainly welcome to show up earlier for pizza (at your own expense) for dinner.

I want to thank all of our staff, local volunteers and the people from out of town that showed early to get our track in shape for racing this weekend. All the rain made it quite a challange. Our track is ready for racing! Despite any rain in Friday's forecast, we are fully prepared to cover the entire track and are determined to hold all three races this weekend: Double point race on Friday night, triple point Redline Cup Series Saturday, and double point Wisconsin state qualifier Sunday. Please join us for what is sure to be an exciting weekend!

"Thank you" to all that came out early tonight to help get the track ready for racing. It really helped. But we still have more work to do before our big races this weekend. If you have any time to spare in the evening, we will be out working after 5:30 Tuesday and ESPECIALLY THURSDAY.

Don't forget!! We will be racing a make-up race this Wednesday - weather permitting. Registration 6-7 with race immediately to follow.

So here we go. Getting ready to start a new season. Lots going on this year. The new schedule is posted, check it out. We are holding Supercamp in August, so the kids can train with the pros. Also we will be hosting a Redline cup Qualifier in July so be sure to attend that, triple points. There are scheduled work days on April,10th and 11th and also on April 17th and 18th. We are doing some major track restructuring so we can use all the help that we can get. Contact Jason if you can help.

I want to thank everyone that helped make our weekend of Multi-Point races go very well. The help that we had getting the track changes on our work day was great.

Special thanks to: the Hill family, the Bennetts, the Sturtevants, James cates, Skip Dulin, Chuck Streade, Kevin Skinner, Bruce Cline, Donnie Helgeson, and Chuck Olinek. If I left anyone out from the work day I'm sorry I did appretiate the help very much.
